I once sent a steak back that was overcooked. The server went “how do you know, you haven’t even cut into it” and I responded with “I can feel it. And if I can feel it your cooks should too.” Someone pulled my chit on that night and six days later I had a job offer I couldn’t refuse :)

I can’t believe the number of times I’ve received a steak not cooked to the desired doneness. And this sometimes happens at a steakhouse. There’s a guy in the back who cooks steaks for a living, day in and day out. How can he not get it right? Is he not paying attention? Too much to do? Doesn’t give a crap? Are they hiring prison parolees? All kinds of things make me gasp in wonder at the high error rate.
