I would prefer not to be the sort of person who publishes in one place, and then syndicates across all channels 'til the point of oblivion, but I've begun to upload to Tumblr. Let's see how that goes. Bon appetit!

That is so cool. I remember my days as a kid, watching my mother pickle, can, and ferment anything she could get her hands on. I think that memory is what pushes me forward in this job.

Thank you so much for sharing your memory with me, it makes me happy to see that we/I are not anachronisms as much as some things make it seem :)

My family has made sauerkraut as long as I remember and before...long family tradition. The only difference that we have from your instructions is that we place in canning jars once the fermentation process is at the right consistency. Then we eat kraut all year long. Dad has a 50 gallon ceramic crock and that makes about a years worth of kraut the way my family eats it. Wonderful instructions.

Well, that's the thing - I really want to see some people's photos. Yours, for example. Since I am on Android I have a harder time with the Instagram thingie, but I hear ya.

I think we opened our accounts the same day, didn't we? During Stewart's Etech demo? Maybe I'll just use S3 and keep them on here or something...

I'm slapping together some ruby code to safely extract all my data and the comments so I can import them somewhere else later. I'll send you a copy. I am playing with OpenPhoto at a test site, and so far the thing I miss most is the bigger sized versions, but I am sure that can be hacked in.

And, yes, I'll be in Austin in March. Coffee?

I deleted my account yesterday. Like you, I was a paying pro member since 2004. But it was just making me too sad to continue using it. I don't know what I'm going to do now, but at least it seems a weight has been lifted.

I've been using Instagram, and to be honest, I kinda love that it's not a web app. Maybe I'll just upload my non iPhone camera photos directly to my Tumblr page?

Meanwhile, with Google behaving like such droids, I stopped using Reader and reverted to using NetNewsWire. Just like old times! There are very few active blogs I pay attention to, but it seems like the ones who are still around are doing it for the right reasons. That's why I read yours.

If you can figure out how to easily do it, please let me know. I think I'm going to just dump everything in my dropbox until I figure out where to go and not have to worry. Also - will you be in Austin in March now that you are on a nomadic journey?
